A few questions

Hello everyone,

I’ve been playing GTD for a lot of time but only recently found these forums heh …

Anyway in all this time that i’ve played GDT some things still are sort of a mistery to me and would appreciate if someone would be so kind to help me out a bit by explaning a few things to me:

  1. There have been situations when i got low scores and i dont understand why. For example, I released a game and it did well, got an average score of 8. Then, researched some new features, trained my staff, made a new engine and made a new game with different genre and topic on a different platform. I made this game with topics/audiences/genres/platforms that work well together and at i’ve also scored a higher Tech/Design score than the previous game. I was expecting to get a better score but somehow I scored poorly (around 5-6). What gives?

  2. When developing an Action game for example, does adding features to fields that are bad combo with the genre improve my score?
Example, making an action game and i reach stage 2 (Dialogues/Level Design/AI), i add features to Level Design and AI because they work well with Action games but what happens if i add to Dialogues? Ofcource keeping all at 100%
Does it improve my ratings even if the field itself doesnt work with the genre i chose?

I had a few more questions but its late here so ill ask them tomorrow probably

Thank you in advance.

  1. Was the 8 game a sequel? Being a sequel gives a sort of “invisible” bonus, which is something extra you have to overcome with your next games.
Also the Ratio of Tech and Design points plays a role, if you missed the optimal ratio for the genre by too much, youre game will be penalized.
Making a game report should probably give you some insights.

  2. Yes it does. Features increase the point generation during the development of that field. How important the field is for the genre has no (direct) influence on this. The only indirect influence is, that fields on which you spent more time, need more features to be “full” than ones you spent little time on.

Ok thanks for your reply.

  1. No, the game was not a sequel. As for ratios, how do i know what ratio is optimal?
Game reports are mostly useless from what i’ve seen. All i get is “genre X works great on X platform” and that sort of things, essentially i discover hints and such … altho in my most recent games i usually import the hints from my previous games where i have them all (or almost) so game reports in these cases are completly useless.

  2. So essentially you are saying that it is a good thing to add features to non important fields as it will increase the point generation, right? Obviously maintaining 100% on the various fields.
