A Few Notes on Tiny Tower / Zynga

You made an unexplained statement that, after searching a bit, I found what your intent was.

While “Big Money” ripping off small indies can easily be seen as “bad,” the converse is not. The open-source community blatantly uses reverse engineering and bashes software companies for their “IP Protection.” And I don’t just mean the GUI, I mean litterally decompiling programs, or creating a program to interface with a dll and then generating a program that mimics the outputs.

But there are plenty of Open Source Developments that do copy corporate programs right down to the commands / keyboard shortcuts. How closely must you copy to be a copy?

Even though Tiny Tower got copied by a larger corporation down to the letter… is the only bad part that the “larger corporation” sold their new product? If it was “free” would there be an uproar? If it added in pointless features and generated a following that claimed that “X Pointless Feature is the best, no way I will pay for Y Company’s software now!” (And should Y Company implement said feature, they’ll have an uproar over copying.)

*** Annoying javascript sites make it harder to do simple things people take for granted (But “look cooler” [and reduce server-load]), so can’t really find duplicate topics as easily.

I hope you realize it was an April Fool’s joke. I’m going to keep it open, since although there’s already a thread on the joke itself, this seems to be beyond that.

On your comment regarding Discourse (the forum software), there’s a very obvious search function by clicking the magnifying glass in the upper-right hand corner (which is the universal indicator for searching).
