i Think a Cheat mode would be good. for people who are struggling to earn money. or a difficulty choice. hard normal easy super easy. This would be nice
There are currently 3 game speed options, for 25, 30, and 35 years until the final score is tallied. These can be likened to difficulty options in that the slower, longer modes allow you more time to make decisions before market forces (such as the decline of a console) limit your choices.
Another option is to use this forum as a great source of tips and tricks to help you make the most of your game. All you need to do is use the search button in the top right corner of the page.
Although They did mention that the difference in time only contribute to how fast new consoles pop up-ed and doesn’t necessarily make the game any easier for young players… but I don’t really think that different level of difficulty makes any difference, because this game supposedly teach us how to experiment with game building and uses logic, in my opinion the current level of playing is just perfect.
Guess it tells you how hard it is to develop games, right?
If the game is hard you can change anything in the savegame.
I saw a save-game editor recently around here.
I do think that could work, like Hard Mode would contain: Harder to get very good reviews, more sales, more hype, longer contract work, less Tech/Design points, etc. It could work, and be a challenge, a very big challenge.
Adding cheats alwas destroy the fun you have on a game. With cheats you can make anything without spending work and time on it. And if you can get eveything like this you get bored very fast.
I think it’s the challenge wich make every game to this what it is. When this challenge is lost you get bored very fast and you don’t want to play the game anymore.
PS: Cheats could be usefull if you want to make a move or something where it would be just very hard to get the results that you want without cheats.
This game isn’t no Total War game, meaning that even if you do cheats, its still challenging because the difficulty of the other faction is always harder…this is totally different.
I dont’t think so. I played very much different games and erytime when I jused cheats I got bored of the game because there Is no challenge left.
Then maybe its just me because wheN I play strategy games and overview like Total War, I always find cheats to help me, but still can never win the game :L
I would suggest adding an optional advice button. If you pick a topic/genre combination that is bad, it’ll warn you, allowing you change your mind. During development, it would highlight the important sliders. It wouldn’t tell you how high to make them, just that they are important.
Without any changes to the game balance, that alone would help younger or new users figure out how to make halfway decent games, while still giving them room to discover how to make 9.0+ hits.
I don’t think that should work…yes hints should be there but that should be explained at the start of the game, its all about trial and error, you can’t expect to have a perfect development stage every time…
@PatrickKlug Hey there should be a cheat mode , as some user don’t like doing hardwork and sometimes changing the savegame is a little hard.
Hey Guys,
There are several trains of thought on this, While we accept that some balancing does need to happen, especially around the second office, while it comes to cheats, its not something the devs are keen to implement.
However of course if we had implemented cheats then there would have been no need for a third party save game editor which may damage the integrity of your files.
Then there is sandbox mode which many games do offer, offering much easier settings, such as that seen in Age of Empires.
Certainly though, Patrick and Daniel have taken the feedback into consideration and will endeavour to create a more balanced end product. Game Dev Tycoon is a very ambitious project and is, in my opinion a mostly polished game. They had a vision and they stuck to it. Which is why its so good and unique.
Everybody is different, Triple A games please everyone by adding cheats, sandbox, difficulty sliders, and nightmare modes, but they have the time and budget to do so. They appreciate that all skill levels play their games and that people play for different reasons.
Daniel and Patrick had to make a choice, as a two man team with a personal budget they chose the ethos they believe in, their goal was to make the game accessible to a wide audience and they are still working on that ethos so please bare with us.
maybe a difficulty setting?
Changing The Savegame?
Thank You, for the comment i just want to say that i hope you put difficulty settings becouse i think the game itself is quite hard.
i suppose you get bored but. you could just use cheats as a practice. its up to the player really
Maybe you could add a feature that could implement cheats to your AAA made game, but it would have consequences?
