I have just researched MMO games and created my first game using the engine that I spent over 2.5 million on. It included all the features for story/quest, dialogues and world design (plus graphics, MMO support etc.). I have also trained my staff to be specialists in each of the those areas. Therefore I believe I’ve ticked all the boxes so far for creating a good MMO game. Nevertheless when I try to create my game with the MMO engine, unlike with other engines, I do not get the option to add on any features. Is this normal for the MMO engine?
Nonetheless there is still a bug, because on the developmental 3 stage for an MMO game, I’m able to select ‘Basic Sound’ feature and ‘Rich Backstory’ feature, but those are the only features possible to select across all developmental stages. As such I receive extremely bad scores from the reviewers, even though my design to technology ratio is good, it is just extremely low, because I have no extra researched features.
Is this a bug? Or is this part of the game where in MMO engines you cannot select features?
Anyone tried creating an MMO engine and game yet? Feels like I’m just wasting my money and time with this game if you can’t even play with all the supposed features.
Could you be more specific ? because i just created a MMO and i got all the things i wanted. Are you Sure that you are using the right Engine ? you must make a custom engine you know right ? aslo look at the wiki: http://gamedevtycoon.wikia.com/wiki/Game_Development if you can’t find the prob then i am willing to record my game with fraps to show you how to do.
Sounds like your engine doesn’t have the parts you think it has on it. Mine works fine. The other parts aren’t related it being an “MMO” I don’t think; weren’t for me.
I’ve created this engine 4 times now, each time costing me 2 million, and I still do not see any of the features. Are you able to add features to your MMO game? I can only pick rich back story and one sound feature, thats it. How can an engine cost 2 million and only have 2 features?
I have the same problem.
Created a brand new engine with MMO-support and a bunch of new features (old engine was way outdated) but creating a game with this engine does’nt allow to select any features. Regardless if the game i’m creating is a mmo or not.
When i go to “Create Custom Engine” all the features i included in the last engine are still preselected, so i’m sure i have included the features in my mmo-engine.
My engine had all the features I added at engine development time. I’ve never seen the game not include all the features I added to the engine, MMO or otherwise.
I will record my game with fraps, wait 30 minuts and i try to post it online , then you can see what i do, i will aslo make a new game engine to show you. I hope your problem get solved by this. Because MMo’s rocks
For action 2.4 million; for RPG it was 6-8million can’t remember exactly. However, on the 3rd try, I got the RPG MMO engine to show its features. I don’t know whether there is an initial bug after researching MMO for the first time.
I now have both engines so for now the problem is fixed. But if I restart the game not too sure whether it’ll happen again, would be good to find out for definite.

The pauses are when i look at the internet for some info about MMO, sorry for that. Anyway Try to restart your PC and maybe try a total diffrent platfrom or so ? but keep your safe fille so you can’t go bankcorupt.
Mmh i think it indeed is a bug as you tryd 3 times…
Around 2 Million.
I created the exact same engine - this time without MMO-support and it worked.
My second attempt at a MMO-Engine was successful. I decided to leave out “Multiplayer” (seems redundant for a mmo) and “Self Learning AI” (A MMO doesn’t need smart AI).
With that engine, i can create a mmo with all the features. Maybe one of these features (my guess would be the AI) clash with the mmo-part.
Just checked.
My MMO engine has both Self-Learning AI and Multiplayer in it and works fine (doesn’t exhibit this issue).
Although It seems “multiplayer” and “online play” are mutually exclusive. On the other hand they’re both redundant when its an MMO, so why I can even have one of them… :-S
i have the same issue but with me i dont have all the features i only need to exceed 2M and the engine crashes , also i dont have the MMO to say that is related with the MMO bug i dont know is just that im in year 37 and im using a year 15 engine and this makes launching more specific games more dificult because i need a engine for almost any kind of game since i cant exceed 2M in my engines, if anyone can help it would be great
Sorry for the problems. We are aware of this bug and it will be fixed in the next update. (Hint: Don’t use trailing spaces for engine names until then) It has nothing todo with MMO.
