[Mac] DOM Exception or Crash on Load

I am having the same problem I think. OS X 10.7.5. No idea if there is a solution to this. If you really want to play the game tho, there is actually a way to open the game in your browser, the saved games doesn’t seem to come along tho :frowning: I dont even know if you can save the games you play there at all either…

Just sayin’, if you really just want to play the game, there is a way

thanks, this sort of error report is quite helpful. We will see if we can fix this but please allow a few days. We are unfortunately completely overloaded at the moment.

I have exactly the same issue :frowning:
Macbook Pro Retina 15"…

same issue, here is the crash report from system console

I have this error :
Uncaught TypeError: Cannot read property ‘title’ of null
(file:///Applications/Game%20Dev%20Tycoon.app/Contents/Resources/app.nw/compressed/codeNw.js:655)

Please restart the game.

Very sorry for the trouble. We hope to be able to investigate this in detail in the next day or two.

Same for me. It is good news that you are working on it. It would be a shame to lose my saved game.

@Outconsumer: I copied the save game and loaded it on windows, works perfectly.

Where did you find the save game, sveinerikkro?

Hey guys, I was having the same issue but I found a temporary fix. Open the “Applications” folder on Mac, right click on the “Game Dev Tycoon” icon and then check the “Open in low resolution” option. It opens just fine, just doesn’t look as good. Hopefully they come out with a real fix soon.

Good luck! =)

That doesn’t actually fix this issue. Mine has that checked and still can’t load a save game.

Sorry to hear that. It does work for me however, able to load save game perfectly …

Wow, this is really frustrating. I recently started playing the game and there have been some crashes related to the Javascript error mentioned above, but now it’s not even letting me load/start a game. I restarted my computer and then it let me load my most recent save but then I got the Javascript error again and was forced to quit.

I was checking this forum for answers for the last 2 days and at last decided to post since this is frustrating at best. I’m part of the small percentage of people who’ve payed and getting your game to stop working the day after buying it is more than anoying.

Error message:

Uncaught Error: InvalidStateError: DOM Exception 11
(file:///Applications/Game%20Dev%20Tycoon.app/Contents/Resources/app.nw/compressed/codeNw.js:1361)

Extra details: My game sometimes just opens, or it can be done by opening the menu and loading a game quickly while the first loading bar is loading after “click to continue”. On the other hand, either my staff have no character or there’s no R&D and Hardware wing to be seen even though I can scroll sidewards to them, therefore it makes me think it’s a problem of loading that part of the data. Last night I was able to load a game after some tries and make it work for a while but it wouldn’t let me change between games or start new ones without “crashing”.

Thanks for the help and I really hope it gets fixed soon.

FYI, I renamed this thread to make it more clear about the two types of errors discussed in this thread.

According to the comment by Patrick, they’re being investigated.

In case it helps the devs, I was able to “fix” the problem by deleting the ~/Library/Application Support/Game Dev Tycoon directory. This of course deleted my saved game and reset everything else, but the game worked again. If it helps, I can send the folder, just tell me how/where.

The instructions I had from the support email is:

Send us the file _file__0.localstorage contained in the Local Storage folder.
The folder in question is ~/Library/Application Support/Game Dev Tycoon/Local Storage.

If you could send that to support@greenheartgames.com it should help them figure out the cause of the bug.

I got this same behavior on Linux (Fedora 18). When I accepted the offer to move from the garage to the technology park, I got an alert window saying “[Object event]”, and a black screen with an infinite progress bar. It happens again when loading the save game (although I did explicitly save after getting into this state).

No crash though, the game is perfectly stable to sit at the progress bar for a while. So it might not be the same issue as at the start of the thread, and it might not be Mac only.

There was no useful console output, or any debugging information other than “[Object event]”. I have not yet tried running the save game on another platform.

I bought this game because I thought the torrent piracy fiasco was cute.

Anyway I am also having this error on my MAC. I already saved at level 3 but now I can’t play it at all!

I’ve sent an email to support a few days ago regarding a bug in which I can’t send anyone on vacation and there are no replies yet! Nothing about it was even addressed in this forums. Naturally, I wouldn’t want to send another email regarding this error as per topic.

It’s quite a good game, but bugs like this shouldn’t have gone unnoticed because seems like a lot of osx users are experiencing it.

It’s probably not unnoticed. However, as you can see by these forums alone (not even taking into account the emails which we can’t even see) there are quite a few higher-pressing bugs that will most likely take priority over that, especially regarding the Linux version of the game.

I’m confident your email will get replied to when its place in the queue comes up, but I feel it’s a long queue.
