So I want to clear that up.
First, let me say that this is in response to the couple of threads recently created about games “copying” or “stealing” ideas/assets from GHG (specifically GDT).
Okay, so first of all, ideas CANNOT be copyrighted. Art can, though. If a game simply has the same main idea/theme of another game, then it is not copying or stealing. It’s only copying or stealing when something is the exact same thing as another thing and is able to be copyrighted.
Copyright infringement can only occur when copyrighted material (that means exact copies) has been used without authorization from the copyright holder.
So as you should now see, there is no point in saying that something is a “copy” or was “stolen” of/from something owned by GHG. Please do not make these threads anymore. They are trash. If you want to share a game that’s similar to something else with the GHG community, then go ahead and do that. But do not say it is a copy of or stolen from GHG unless it is an exact copy. In that case, yes, you should bring it to the attention of GHG so they can decide whether or not they want to take legal action.
