So where are the Steam savefiles?

I’ve been trying to tinker with the savegames in my Steam version of the game, but I can’t seem to find the actual location of the savegames.

…\AppData\Local\Game Dev Tycoon - Steam\Local Storage

Doesn’t seem to be here - If I deleted the Local Storate folder, the savegames are still intact when I boot up the game afterwards.

I could be way off, but I don’t think the save files are stored locally at all when not playing the game. I think they are stored in the Steam Cloud.

they are in your AppData\Local\Game Dev Tycoon - Steam

That doesn’t appear to be the case on my computer. This is what I see in that folder: Folder Contents

If you go to the bottom of the following thread, it may be of assistance: Find local files

Read the OP Rickie - they are NOT there. I have deleted said folder and all of the savegames are still intact.

I’ll try that - Thanks.

C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\userdata{Your Steam ID}\239820\remote
but for what o.O ?

Location of the containing folders:

  • On Windows 8 and Under:

    C:/Users/YOURUSER/Appdata/Local/Game Dev Tycoon/Local Storage/ where
YOURUSER is your Windows user name.

  • On Mac: ~/Library/Application Support/{app}/Local Storage

  • On Linux ~/.config/Game Dev Tycoon (might be slightly different)

  • On Windows 8 Store Version
    C:\Users{User}\AppData\Local\Packages\B3B9BB81.56264F78B4FFF_swksbykwsp6kr\RoamingState

Where {User} is your username. If you could send us the file
corresponding to the save slot you use, that would help us a lot. So
slot 1 would be file 1 for example.

To View the App Data folder please allow viewing of Hidden Files and
Folder;

N.B. Steam versions will have the name Steam in the file path

Also

Steam users will find that if Steam Cloud is turned on their saves will re-sync with the ones stored on the Steam servers.

And

Although we wanted to add the facility to load your old saves, it seems that it may not be working fully as intended, We will investigate this.
