Ahh that’s what I need to hear!
We’re working on the details but if all goes to plan, we should be ordering it soon.

Did you get it?
(P.S. If anyone needs help with a computer build, or help with upgrades, or how to fix something hardware wise, just ask me, I’d be glad to help :))
I’m working on it… So far it seems like I’ll be getting it soon though.
Hey @Killertoad I have a 1st Gen i7. I really don’t like upgrading CPU’s till they really slow me down.
How long do you think i can last playing new AAA games on full specs?
Attached my DxDiag here;

Any other advice on how to improve my build is welcome
It’ll run big games fine, for a good while, but you could be getting better performance.
Your CPU is a bit on the slower side. But it’s a decent one, so I wouldn’t go out of my way to buy a new one, lol.
But, if you happen stumble upon a good amount of cash, I’d then upgrade your CPU, and motherboard (to the new z/h97’s) and then get the new 5th gen CPU’s (when they come out)
P.S. If you could, would you tell me what you do on your computer? (Editing, gaming, CAD work, etc?)
Yes haha, I know gaming is a big part of it.
Hey, Thanks!
I have had that CPU for 4ish years now and i have to say its been an absolute workhorse, bless it. I just wish more programs and games utilized all its cores.
I just googled the z/h97’s, Im a Gigabyte girl so went straight for http://www.gigabyte.pl/media/13940 Im currently using the ‘Extra Durable’ as im a fan of stamina cough over power haha. So liking the look of the GIGABYTE Ultra Durable™ Black Edition Motherboards. My Chassis is the Coolermaster ATCS 840 so the size of the Mobo doesn’t matter
I was thinking i could increase my CPU performance by fitting a nice copper cooler such as http://www.amazon.co.uk/COOLER-MASTER-Cooler-Master-GTS/dp/B00FWB964I/ref=sr_1_36?ie=UTF8&qid=1400582054&sr=8-36&keywords=coolermaster+heatsink
Because atm im using the very basic Pentium one it came with.
My main performance hog is when i create content (Mod) for Bethesda games. When i do that i will have the following programs all open at once and it doesn’t matter how much power i have, i need more! Also i run Skyrim fully modded with advanced High level shader code added. I mod skyrim to an acceptable FPS level so i go from 60 unmodded down to 40. This included all textures replaced with 2048+ some mesh replacements with higher poly variants + High level shader code with tilt shift dof, HQ sharpening, HQ bloom etc
Photoshop 5 Extended Edtion
Nifskope - http://niftools.sourceforge.net/wiki/NifSkope
Creation Kit - http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:Creation_Kit
Skyrim to test whatever i have just created (At this point i use all my resources)
Other than that my hobbies include digital art & photography. I run several plugins for photoshop including things like Alien Skin & OnOne software and 3D texture editing specific plugins such as Ddo & Ndo.
When Fallout 4 comes along + the Geck i will need to add High level shader code and higher quality meshes and textures. Not 4k, Just 2k.
Thanks for the input!
Yeah, it’s a really decent one, still today. And yeah, Battlefield supports 4 (cores) now, so we are getting there
Anyways, would you like an ASUS motherboard? They (In my opinion) have the best quality, and the best BIOS. But Gigabyte is not bad at all, my second favorite, haha.
And the cooler won’t really help, not with that processor anyways, it’ll only keep it cooler, but you won’t get more performance out of it, until you overclock it, but you can’t with yours
You could though, buy a i5 - 4670k, and it’d still be faster than the i7 - 950. Or like I said earlier, you can get the new motherboard, and get a new 5th gen i5/i7 and then you’d be set for a long while. (i5 may fit your needs better than a i7, as you don’t do anything that would benefit a whole lot from hyperthreading)
And plus, you’ll see a decent jump up in FPS while playing games, I feel like the i7 - 950 is bottlenecking your GPU a little bit.
But like I said, don’t go rushing out to buy a new CPU/Motherboard, but it would benefit you quite well. Also, after the 5th gen CPU’s come out, the 4th gen’s will lower their prices, so if you really wanted, you could just upgrade to a z97 motherboard and a 4th gen CPU and it’d be a lot cheaper in a few months, than it would be now.
Well, good news is I got the new laptop tonight, bad news is that the wifi on the machine isn’t functioning properly… I’m getting speeds of 100kbpm… I’m trying to figure out what the issue is…
Well, new laptop’s dead… Off to the store I go to wait another week!
Hm, lol. Did they say it was faulty?
I say it is. They had me update the drivers and bios, but the bios update crashed the laptop lol!
So I sent it back and getting another of the same…
There is a common issue with the wifi card so hopefully, I’ll have better luck with this newer one that I’ll get in a week or so.
Lol, updating the bios isn’t very safe, done by someone who isn’t very experienced in computers (unlike an IT guy)
At least they let you get a newer one, lol.
I’ve done BIOS updates before but I’m always scared when I do them…
It was what the moderator of their forums told me to do. I would have called them, but they don’t have a number for their gaming series machines lol!
It’s kind of embarrasing really when you have a high-priced machine and A. Doesn’t work right out of the box, and B. doesn’t have proper support.
I just hope this one doesn’t have the same problem, or if it does, that I can actually get it working properly.
Hey I got my new laptop and everything seems to be working well.
I’m having some issues though, Max Payne 3 is running at 30 fps so recording that is not very easy…
Any suggestions on pc settings, game settings, recording software etc. ?
The 8970m which is the older version of the m290x(the one you have) is a little bit slower than the m290x, and it gets about 60 frames while recording it on ultra. So the m290x should do that and more… So something is not right. Try downloading catalyst, and updating your drivers, and or get the beta drivers.
And check and see if your performance mode is set to “saving” or something, and turn that off. And look in your graphics settings and see if it is limiting it. That’s the thing about laptop gaming, so much limits and such :b
Alright I’m looking at the settings, seems complicated lol.
Lol, I don’t know much about the AMD laptop graphics settings program, but I’m sure there are YouTube videos showing how to work it.
