@Stian Is SteamOS still going to have all the software Windows has? Because some stuff that Windows has that I use on a daily basis, is not on Linux. So if SteamOS doesn’t have all of the software I use, I have a few reasons to buy Windows (don’t read this like I am mad, I am not, just stating fact).
That is not a reason, thats a “I dont want to use free, open-source software available online because I have to download it” excuse. There is ALWAYS replacements, and games come as the users flock.
If you think about games, I want the scream “BILLION DOLLAR CORPORATION” in your face and show you Microsoft’s bank account.
There is no excuse when there comes to software, stuff life Unity3D is bad practice anyway. You shouldn’t use it, as it costs money for proffessional and is closed-source. Look into http://godotengine.org which has a Linux editor anyway. And, theres a bunch more fixes for Linux problems as Linux users have an experience of “do this to fix that” instead of “press this to fix that”.
That is sounds like a biased answer my friend. I am assuming Unreal Engine is bad too, I shouldn’t use that either… I have Linux on this machine, I just don’t like it. No problem with that, every one’s opinion differs. I will look into that engine though.
EDIT:
How is Unity3D “bad practice?” What is bad about it? It seems to use your favorite programming language, even if that isn’t what the code is compiled in, still, the user can use C# (just assuming you really like C#).
Its bad practice to buy proprietary software when equal alternatives exist and when Unity even uncentralizes scripts I dont understand why anyone would buy that. If you are a noob who just took a quick online search, I undertand. But you’re not. And I saw you were a little aggresive about that, probably meaning you dont want to switch. I’ve never tried Unreal Engine I cant give my opinion on that.
And heres a little quote from the Debian developers.

Okay. I can agree with you now. That quote says it all because it is so true. Sorry, I will try that engine. But I will still use Unity. But I also wouldn’t buy ANYTHING from the Asset Store. I wouldn’t buy from an “Asset Store” from any engine.
Great! I have nothing against using Unity as the free version, because thats just a normal engine. But when theres equal alternatives I dont see why you would pay over 200 dollars just for ONE license.
Looks beastt
