GamersGoMakers vs Game Dev Tycoon

I tried GamersGoMakers (GGM) and Game Dev Tycoon (GDT). And i want to say is…

GGM is now my favorite game. passing GDT.

GGM can have addons, new editions. case designer and even… MORE MORE BEAUTIFUL CUSTOM CONSOLE DESIGNS!

GDT is not like those. Except the mods will help

P.S And ill still make mods for Game Dev Tycoon. Because i love the Game Dev Tycoon fans and even GamersGoMakers fans! I will keep a eye for new tycoon games!

I bought Gamers Go Makers cause I heard how “advanced” it is compared to GDT. I’ve played it for close to 10 hours now, which might be too little but I don’t think I’m going back until another patch.

The ideas and concepts are very, very good but it just really feels like an beta at this stage. There are no animations. Sound effects are horrible and the graphical fidelity on many places feels very concept art like.

Even though you have a huge amount of competitors the world still lacks immersion. I think it’s got a lot to do with missing sounds and overall sound design. And also interesting events in Game Dev Tycoon like G3 conferences are missing in Gamers Go Makers.
There’s no graph to show your sales going on while you play and you instead have pure numbers. These are little touches but they make a world of difference in a game like this.

I think the biggest flaw at the moment though is the fact that although the game making is pretty good with lots of options there is absolutely nothing to do in between. You build a game. Then you build another game. No “Building game engines” or gathering research points for a new research through grunt work. The new research options come about with time passing rather than what you have researched, which imo is a very poor system. You will always have everything researched in this game when it’s available.
There is personnel training but it takes so little time, so little cash and there is so little to train (the training runs out) that you will always have max trained staff all the time.

Pros

  • Much more choices for making games for example under action you have, “Platformer” “Shoot-em-up” “First person shooter” etc.
  • Again much more choices on where to focus on making games. There are categories for Gameplay, Engine, Graphics, Sound, AI, UI, Scripting, Internet, UI Design, Level Design, System, Content Design, World Design, Sound Design, Game Writing. And probably some I haven’t unlocked yet.
  • More needs for specialists in the team. There are so many categories and you need to have a specialist for most of them. This also means bigger teams
  • Artists and Producers.
  • Competitors. This is a huge deal compared to Game Dev Tycoon.

Cons:

  • Graphics are not horrible, but not good either
  • No animations. Can’t we at least animate the filling meter for experience points like in Game Dev Tycoon? I want to see something.
  • Sound effects are really just all over the place. Too loud, weird, too quiet, or just missing. The level up sound is one of the most offsetting sounds I’ve ever heard for a levelling up sound. Since there’s really nothing interesting to see sounds should be good in a game like this.
  • Immersion is just not there. We need some events with animated stuff. Especially for game of the month and related events (never did get game of the year). Newspaper articles etc. These are the things that bring the game alive.
  • Game development intervals are too slow. I’m just looking at the screen for a minute without anything happening.
  • Game cover art is cute the first time. Ridicilous time waste afterwards.

Overall, I wouldn’t buy this game yet for the 9e that they’re selling it for. I’m really hoping they do still patch the game up cause there is definite potential and a good solid base to build up from.

I saw GamersGoMakers and it looked really cool. Should I try it? GDT is really good without mods for a while but once you beat it so many times, it gets boring. But with mods, you can do anything in GDT.

We’re not going to make it look more like Game Dev Tycoon. We don’t want GamersGoMakers be exactly Game Dev Tycoon. There are weekly updates with new features and bugfixes though, so make sure to watch out for them! There’s a great feature on the way for the coming update.

GGM has more things, but they don’t work so well…

If they don’t work so well you should’ve reported them, mr. beta tester.

What?
Who?
When?
What are you talking about, mrs. PR Lady :stuck_out_tongue:

@Stian
Because I think so.
The only thing I hate is the worst fricking UI ever made.

Thought… maybe not “much” better, but in my opinion it is. Don’t forget about updates, and that, that there is only one programmer, he’s doing nice job.
