unfortunately not really. the game isnā€™t based on DirectX/OpenGL so we canā€™t actually override your resolution settings or anything of that sort. Having said that it shouldnā€™t matter much as the performance should be good on most systems.

I just bought this game today, it has never worked yet. When I start it up without changing anything the screen would go black so it was never working to begin with (Meaning it crashes automatically not after 20 seconds) but it is still responding. I try to troubleshoot compatibility and use XP service pack 2, and this time the screen goes white but nothing changes. I fix the firewall and still no changeā€¦ Antivirus, no changeā€¦ Nothing is working!
I know someone will suggest re-installing but my internet is really slow it will take about 6 hours.

EDIT-I can hear the sound I just had it muted before, so I guess its working I just cant see the screen

I have Windows 7, so I dont really relate to everyone else in this topic. Any ideas?

Hey,

Hanging on a black or White screen is caused by the game being blocked by a security measure.

Please double check that you added a formal exception to both your antivirus and firewall. Also you can disconnect from the internet and disable your antivirus completely as that is the most common cause of this error especially for the more family safety oriented anti virus such as Norton, Virgin media and bitdefender. Also please disable peerblock if you are using it.

Even on very slow internet the game should not take more than 15 minutes maximum to download, if youā€™re experiencing beyond slow downloads of Game Dev Tycoon its because our file is not digitally signed, we are working on making it so and we are certainly not alone in not being digitally signed.
The reason it takes so long is because you anti virus is examining every single piece of data, you can disable your av while you download, but do not browse during this time and please do so at your own risk.

Yeah its probably my anti virus because I have Norton, ill check again. My internet is only so slow because im in a hotel so there are lots of people on the same internet at the same time. If we were all downloading something it would take a while. I ended up playing it on my brothers computer and it worked fine so its not the game :smiley: Thankfully
