Can't research much anymore

I’m currently playing my game just a few years after Year 30 (on a 30-year game). I have continued to play with my team, growing my company more, but I have come to a point where I can’t improve much. Every now and then I unlock new things to research (not game topics, as I have long since completed research for all 51), but sometimes, these things don’t actually become visible in the research menu. The ones that tend not to appear are the ones that I feel are needed the most for progression.

Since Year 30, that I can remember, the following things to research have become available for me but have not appeared in the list of things to research:

  • AAA Games
  • 3D Graphics V6

Those things are just a couple that I can recall, but I feel they are pivotal for continuing on anywhere. I wish to finally be able to move onto my eighth engine (Sierra), and the V6 graphics while making a AAA game might be the way to go with it. Alas, I can’t actually use it. I can’t even research it. Some other topics have become available for me to research since year 30, but most of them have actually appeared in the list of things to research. I have researched them as well, but again, the V6 engine and the AAA games are things I really need.

Is this a bug? Or are there really things that are locked out from researching post-high score?

No this is not a bug.
If you pay attention to these messages it says “Now available for research in the R&D lab”

So you need a R&D lab to research Internet, MMO’s, Hardware, AAA Games, 3D Graphics V6/7, Own Conventions …

I had just gone on to play after looking at the Steam trailer and found that you could start projects. I went to play and checked this just before you replied. Thanks for helping quickly anyway. I didn’t pay attention to the first line anymore because I thought it was the same old thing. I’ll pay more attention.

Yea, the game should’t really call them “research” - it implies they’re accessed in the same way as regular research. Confused me for a bit too.
Maybe it should say “R&D Project”.
