I’ve been thinking about doing this for a while, but I’ve been too lazy busy with other things. I finally got around to it, though. I present theoretical sprites for the default protagonists of the original Astrid’s Pony Tales; Roslyn the destrier, Juliet the charger, Astrea the oracle, and Yuria the witch.
For anyone who didn’t see my description of APT’s premise, the player of this fictitious game would be able to choose each character’s name, sex, class, mane/tail color, and coat color. The default protagonists are all female, so I didn’t make any male sprites. Classes not pictured: berserker and mystic. If any of you want to make APT characters, I’ll think about maybe making sprites of them if I feel like it! Just fill out the form below.

Nah, nothing that complicated. I made a series of fantasy RPGs in Game Dev Tycoon called Astrid’s Pony Tales. Between a few different threads on the GDT forums, I really fleshed out the concept and described how I imagine the games would be. I also used the series in GDTRP, where it is highly successful.
The first Astrid’s Pony Tales is described most thoroughly. APT has default names, classes, and appearances for the four protagonists, but the player is able to change all of this before the game starts (or at least that would be possible if the game itself weren’t fictitious). I’ve been meaning to make some art of the default protagonists for a while, and never got around to it. Until now.
Making these default characters made me wonder what characters other people would make if APT were a real game. So, I’m tentatively offering APT sprite requests. Examples in my first post, of course. Tell me what your character would be like, and if I like the design and have the free time later, I’ll make a sprite depicting how that character would look in-game. Or heck, make up four characters, have a full party!
