Each slider is a measure of how much effort you put into that area during game development.
For example, most RPG games can afford to neglect AI (drag it down to the bottom), since a lot of the games are heavily scripted. The flip side is that you should concentrate on Dialogue and Story because of the scripting.
I’ve tried to compile a list of known winners with some tips for maximizing your scores.
Thanks for explanation. Your list is helpful and now I have no longer problem with RPG type but I still not clear with Other type which area I should focus on Action or Simulation etc. I still try to figure it out.
This is what I’ve found from game reviewer feedback as well as experiments:
Sports: Engine, some AI
Action: Engine, some AI. Level design very important
RPG/Adventure: Story, Dialogue. Neglect AI.
Sim: Engine. Level design.
Casual: Gameplay? Maybe graphics.
I think the sliders only matter for the type of game ie Action, Strategy, etc.
The topic awards a bonus or penalty depending. There may also be console affinity?
Maybe it’s my imagination. When I make my early Civ/Mom/MOO clones I market them to PC, whereas actiony games go on C64 or consoles. Gameboy gets the Young rating.
