more power to Game Dev Tycoon!!

If this game does get green-lit, is Steam going to be the only way to buy it? Have you looked into GOG.com or Desura for distribution?

I ask because, while the game looks great and I want to support it, Steam is a client I refuse to use or purchase my games through.

We will look into other forms of distribution too.

Voted ! and forced my friends vote too

Do those that purchase now, we will get offered steam keys later when its released there?

Maybe. We can’t say for sure until we are on steam and know how the steam key system works. Also, Microsoft doesn’t actually give us information about people who bought our game on Win8 so it’s unclear how we could easily identify genuine Win8 customers.

Love the game but I will wait until it hits steam before buying it. I like all my games to be in one place and I don’t trust MS too much.

You could put out an update to allow people to use their forum login within the game to register their copy.

unfortunately this could easily be circumvented. The safest option to verify a genuine customer is to have their email address linked to an actual purchase but Microsoft doesn’t disclose purchase information.

More info on Win7 release date is here.

I voted for this game. I’d rather buy it on Steam than on this website to use my non-existent credit card and “my” PayPal account. (“My” because someone in China was using my e-mail address to make the account which I changed their password to. Don’t worry, there was no banking info on there.)

I bought the game but I’d still like to vote for GOG.com if you stick with the no-DRM, which I really hope you will.
Steam is in some way a DRM (I use it (since I am allowed to switch to offline) but I am not a fan). Also I think it fits to your nice little “feature” for the pirated version.

I don’t know why people complain about it or that it is not a new idea. So what? But I like the idea and its implementation. Its creative enough to put a smile on the face of those who legitimately bought the game and it is rightfully annoying for those who have to pirate a game, a low cost at that.
I’d actually would be happy to see some competition on originality of catching pirated version to turn them to not much more than a demo. Like in the original Drakensang where at some point you would not be able to enter buildings and when entering a dungeon you’d always end up in a cell that you cannot leave anymore. Brilliant IMO.

Anyway, good job guys and I hope to see more games from you.
