Console Notebook

My main problem with the game right now is releasing my games on the wrong console for the audience. I’m pretty sure that when the console launches, it says what audience they work best with. It would be handy if a notebook could be automatically kept of key information like this we are given. I’ve gone bankrupt 4 times now on “level 2” as I keep forgetting which audiences work with which consoles.

I don’t recall it mentioning how well it will sell with what audience, but if you are struggling then try to rely on your real life knowledge of the console. So if you’re developing a mature fantasy then don’t release it for the GS which as we know from the DS is more popular with younger people. Hope this helps, if there are anymore consoles you would like to know about let me know as I have played through the game and might be able to help.

I guess a problem here is I don’t know my console history pre Playstation. Also, it seems that an “everyone” audience worked once for the Playstation, but then later on (few years maybe) I tried again, and got told it was a poor match. Does the audience change for consoles over time? If so, some indication of this would be good. I almost feel like opening the game up to find the list of consoles / audiences because for me it’s killing the fun in the game when you get a good rating and then make a 200k loss.

It is not just the audience that might not fair well with the console. Sometimes certain genres or topics will do worse on some consoles. For example strategy games are better geared toward pc or tablet rather than console. Let me know if you need anymore help.

Yeah, of course, I understand that, but the message I get is always that the target audience does not match the console, never that the topics don’t match.

As far as I can see that is just the way it is. Even if it states the target audience when I change topics and keep the target audience I don’t get the message.

Then maybe this is a bug? Shall I report it as so?

PM @PatrickKlug as he is bound to know more than I do. From what I can tell topic, genre and target audience are what affect how well things sell on certain platforms.
